ROLEX CERAMIC BEZEL VS ROLEX ALUMINIUM BEZEL
Rolex, being a luxury swiss brand, has made a commitment to innovation with their ceramic bezel as choice of the future. Rolex aficionados have discovered some advantages, along with disadvantages to wearing a Rolex watch with a ceramic bezel. For decades, aluminum was the bezel material for iconic Rolex watches like the Submariner and GMT Masters.
Ceramic bezels are more durable, resistant to salt water and UV rays from the sun. Ceramic is also unscratchable, in contrast with the aluminum bezels which are inexpensive and simple to replace. However, aluminum bezels do scratch easily, and prolonged exposure to sunlight and salt water has proven to cause fading. Also, the replacement of a ceramic bezel can be very costly and requires special tools.
In summary, the wearers benefit from an overall shinier and more durable timepiece, having a Rolex watch with a ceramic bezel. But in the end, is up to the wearer to decide over price, convenience and functionality.
